Virtues of Recitation of Surah al Kahf on Friday
The recitation of Surah al Kahf on Fridays is a very rewarding act in Islam. Illumination for the Believer: The Greatest Virtue is the Promise of Light. Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported that Allah’s Messenger said, “Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on the night of Jumu’ah, a light will emerge between him and the Ka’bah. This luminescence is a guidance and enlightenment.
Continuous Light until the Following Friday: According to another narration, he / she who performs the quran reading of Surah al-Kahf on Friday is given light from one Friday to another Friday. This is an indication to believe and do good deeds from one Friday to another.
Forgiveness of Sin: Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) has reported that a person who recites Surah al-Kahf on Friday, then all his sin before the coming Fridays are forgiven. This point reveals Allah’s mercy toward His believing servants and allows them to seek repentance and renewal.
Protection from the Dajjal: There is one hadith dealing with the memorization of the first ten verses of Surah al-Kahf. The Prophet said that whoever memorizes those verses is saved from the trial of the Dajjal, or the Antichrist. This thus manifests the protective power of the Quran against one of the greatest tests that believers will undergo.
Serenity and Peace: Surah al Kahf is said to be a source of peace. One anecdote by al-Barā’ reports that it brings tranquility or the peace that calms, therefore becoming a comfort in time of pressure.
When Should One Recite Surah al-Kahf?
Surah al-Kahf may be read at any moment from Thursday’s evening until the evening of Friday, thus making it convenient for believers in the respect that it offers flexibility in making an insertion of recitation of the surah into their timetables, either during the evening after sunset or during the Jumu’ah day itself .
